I understand now that the transfer function is just Vo/Vi = Zp/(R+Zp), where Zp is the total impedance of the two components in parallel. Maybe I am not calculating Zp correctly, I have Zp = Zl/(ZcZl+1). So substitution for Zp gives me Vo/Vin = Zl/(ZlZcR+R+L).
